Starting within the Botanic Gardens, float your way down the Avon River, Otakaroro, surrounded by the wonderful display of native and exotic flora.
We will seamlessly enter the hustle and bustle of Christchurch City and view the new and old architecture, local monuments and artwork from the river. After a break at the futuristic Margaret Mahy Playground, we will continue into the 'Red Zone' suburbs and witness the aftermath of what the 2011 earthquake has left as nature takes back the once urban area.
Feel free to bring some cash for a coffee, gelato and donuts at the Margaret Mahy Playground. This is a fantastic sea kayak tour for all.
All tour participants must provide their own transportation to the Botanic Garden starting point. Transportation will be provided to return you to the starting point after the tour has concluded.
Where do I meet my guide?
You will meet at the tour's starting point at the Botanic Gardens car park, Armagh St entrance in Christchurch. Please come prepared to get directly on the river, as your guide, sea kayaking gear and kayaks will be waiting for you to get started.

How long does the tour last?
Duration: 3.5 hours
Trips start promptly at the time you choose when booking. Times can be varying due to the tide.
Time includes start brief, one break, pack up and return travel time.

Pay your guide at the start of your trip with cash or card
What should I bring?
A sense of adventure and exploration
Footwear for potential to get wet (no bare feet sorry)
Food for lunch and snacks
Appropriate clothes to protect you from the sun and/or the cold
and money for coffee and food stalls at the lunch break
We will provide the gear you need for the sea kayaking trip - including a spray jacket and dry bags for your personal items. We can also provide footwear, and clothing if arranged in advance (please call or email).
I have my bag, can I bring it with me?
Unfortunately we do not have the facility to store suit cases or back packs. Small bags can be stowed in the kayak compartments.
